L&T was selected as the site contractor for the FedEx Forum, the largest public building construction project in Memphis history. This project involved demolishing an entire city block. The shoring consisted of installing soldier piling versus pile driving so as not to disturb existing structures on Beale Street. Shoring was required to remove 400,000+ yards of excavation that was trucked offsite through the congested streets of downtown Memphis. This was a fast track job managing multiple subcontractors including wellpointing to drop the water table beneath the nearby Mississippi River and shoring the Mississippi mud walls surrounding the project. Coordination, planning, and determination were key elements to completing a demanding project in heavily congested quarters on time!
